Dapple Review

Dapple is a company that makes natural-based, baby-specific household cleaning products. Their products are baby-safe and baby-specific, meaning they use ingredients found in nature that have been tested and proven to tackle residues that babies leave behind, like dried milk on bottles, sticky fingerprints on toys and appliances.

A little background on co-founders Tamar and Dana: When they first became moms, they found a market full of “baby-friendly” products, like laundry detergent, shampoo, but nothing specific for the items that babies put in their mouths everyday: bottles, cups, dishes. So with the help of several experienced pediatricians and chemists, they developed Dapple.

All Dapple products use natural-based ingredients that are environmentally-safe, biodegradable, and free of parabens, SLES, and phthalates, as well as synthetic dyes or fragrances.

We got to try 2 different products: Dapple Dishwasher Powder and the Dapple Toy Cleaner Wipes.

What’s in the Dapple Toy Cleaner: Purified water, baking soda, cleaners derived from fruits, tree oils and glucose, French lavender essential oil, essential oil dispersant, alcohol (less than 2%), preservative derived from natural amino acid, biodegradable fabric.

I used to wipe my baby’s exersaucer, chair and toys with another disinfecting wipe. But I always wiped them down again with water, because of the smell, and I wasn’t sure what the disinfecting wipe leaves behind.

With the Dapple Toy Cleaner, I am confident that there is nothing left behind that would poison my little girl. Also, it doesn’t leave that smell most disinfectants leave behind. The travel size is also convenient. I keep one in my diaper bag now for when we go out and baby throws her toys on the floor. I can give it a quick wipe and she can play with them again.

What’s in the Dapple Dishwasher Powder: Vegetable-based surfactants, soil and stain removers specifically chosen to remove fats, starch and milk soils, natural water softeners, dishwasher pots & pans protection agents, processing and flow aids, spot prevention agents.

We tried it in our dishwasher with our dirtiest pots and pans. They came out clean, the grease was gone. We put in dishes and glasses with stuck on food, they came out clean as well. Then I washed baby’s bottles, they came out squeaky clean. No milk spots.

What I also like is that there were no artificial citrus smells while the dishwasher was running and at the end of the cycle. Everything just came out smelling clean.

Dapple has other products like the Dish Liquid and the Toy Cleaner Spray. They are available online and in-store at Babies R Us and Toys R Us. They can also be purchased online at Diapers.com. You can also find a retailer near you by using the Dapple Locator.
