I’m not a big gum chewer, but if I had to pick, my first choice would always be a minty flavoured gum.
Tonight I got to try Trident Layers Wild Strawberry + Tangy Citrus. This is also available in Green Apple + Golden Pineapple flavour. This gum is being advertised as the first “gumwich”. It’s two pieces of gum with a chewy sugar-free middle layer made of real fruit flavour.
As soon as I put the gum in my mouth, before my first bite, I already tasted the middle layer. It’s a really strong cirtus taste. Too bad that after a minute of chewing, the flavor was almost gone. The strawberry taste just felt dull.
The gum was the perfect size, not too big that it fills up your mouth, but not too small that it disappears. And it was just a nice texture. Some gum, after you’ve chewed it for a while, becomes hard and difficult to chew. Trident Layers stayed the same, consistent texture, easy enough to chew. I chewed on one piece for about an hour and it was as chewable when I first started.
But there is this weird aftertaste that stayed long after I threw out the gum. It didn’t go away until I ate and drank something else.
Overall, I would recommend you try this gum. Would it take me away from my go to brand? Probably not.
